Guide for applicants
To make sure we consider all applicants thoroughly and fairly, there are several stages to our admissions process. Each one is outlined on this page.
It is important you understand your role in each of these stages and are aware of the deadlines. The admissions timeline provides an overview of this process.
In 2025 our UCAS application deadline is Wednesday 15 October, which is earlier than most other universities.
If you are applying to Oxford this year, it is likely that the admissions process for your chosen course will include an admissions test taken at a Pearson VUE test centre in October. You can register for your test from 18 June until 19 September (6pm BST). Registered candidates will be able to book their test from 18 August until 26 September (6pm BST). Places are allocated first come, first served so we recommend doing this as soon as possible. All booking and registration details are available on our admissions test pages. When registering, candidates will be able to request access arrangements, for example extra time, so long as they can submit evidence of need provided by a medical or educational specialist. Candidates who require access arrangements are advised to read the Admissions Test Access Arrangement Policy carefully to ensure their evidence is sufficient.
The deadline for the submission of any written work required as part of the admissions process for your course is 10 November.
Admission requirements for our courses vary so check carefully the admission requirements for your course before applying.
